The Tween & Teen day camps run separately out of the same location. The Tween & Teen camp programs are based around similar concepts but vary based on the age of the audience.
We teach the Teen campers some of the training on our LIT program along with developing their self esteem, positive thinking, self reflection and resilience and then they develop and work on these concepts and have the opportunity to present their ideas to our younger campers.
Our hopes for our teen campers is that they get to enjoy the regular camp experience while integrating the ideas presented to them by mentoring, leading and presenting their ideas to the younger campers. We hope this experience will then lead our older members into our girls groups that run throughout the year, onto our LIT program and that they become our volunteers and counsellors of the future.
Our Tweens & Teens will experience a camp based around having fun, getting outside, getting fit while becoming empowered and gaining the tools to develop their self esteem and self worth. They are set in a fun, friendly environment where kids are encouraged to share their thoughts and examine themselves and how they integrate with world around them. They will be exposed to many different fitness activities and include:
The discussions and experiential learning activities are focused around positive self esteem, empowerment, self understanding and responsibility for yourself and others and connection to the environment and world and include:
There is also discussions on nutrition & the week ends for girls with a dance party fashion show with a professional photo shoot and for boys at a local boxing gym. The goal of our Summer Camps are for kids to say this to be the best part of their summer (we are often told this), and to be ranked "Top Camp in Ontario" by all our participants!! We encourage and facilitate new friendships, a positive sense of self, the experience of new physical activities and the secrets to controlling stress and producing lasting happiness. We also randomly break into dance and let kids sing wildly their favourite songs. Basically, we have it all, and we know it, because this is what they asked for and we deliver, and when the requests change, so do we.
Overnight Camp Dates
July 9-13, 2018 : Tween Girls Overnight Outdoor Active Empowerment Camp
July 30 - Aug 3, 2018 : Teen Girls Overnight Leadership/Empowerment Camp
This is NOT your normal camp. If you are looking for a unique and uplifting camp experience where girls learn real life skills and work on self understanding, self esteem, relationships, group dynamics, leadership, cooperation & compassion then this is the camp for you. This is a once in a lifetime experience (except you can do it more than once!)
Our property is 2 beautiful but simple cottages on the same property at the end of Long Lake right on a sandy beach and access to quiet waters. There is a swim dock and safe waters for paddle boarding and exploring. Our workshops are held outside on the grass or inside in the living area. All food is prepared and cooked on site and the girls help out in preparation and clean up. There are plenty of rooms with the possibility of sleeping in single, double, triple or quad rooms. Girls can choose rooming options and there is enough space that everyone can be happy and it's a small enough group that no one is left out. Because we take 2 12 seater vans up we have trips into Bala for ski shows, ice cream and rollerskating.
The P4T difference is due to the size of the camp, the quality of the programming & instructors and the philosophy behind the camp. We take a maximum of 25 girls and have 4 leaders and volunteers. Girls leave having had great fun, made lasting friendships, a greater understanding of who they are, what they want and the life they want to lead, no-one gets left behind.
We do not cater to our campers and have a system where everyone takes a turn to prepare meals, clean, lead games, create plays and entertain the crowd (if thats your thing!). We work like a commune and empowerment comes from pulling your weight and realizing how important you are within the structure of the group. You burn the rice.... no problem, that's your life lesson! In our beautifully run commune there is also a whole load of fun and activities.
